The Epson Workforce ES-200 is a multi-page document scanner. It's a portable scanner with an auto-feed function that can easily scan twenty pages-per-minute. Though its a bit on the bulky side of portable scanners, it's a very versatile device to have with you. It's a duplex scanner, which is a fancy way of saying it scans both sides of the paper. It connects to your pc via a USB 3.0 data cable and a separate power supply (both included in the box). Let's get a deeper pro's and con's look into this document scanner so you can make an informed decision on what works best for you.

Pros

The automatic document feeder is very handy. On top of the automatic feeder, its a duplex scanner - meaning it scans both pages at the same time. In the Epson SmartScan application, you're presented with two options - single page scanning and double side scanning. This feature helps cuts down on unnecessary blank pages if you're scanning multiple one page documents. If you're scanning double sides documents with a mix of one sides sheets, you can clear out whatever is not needed in the document preview. This application is also the same application which is used in the Epson WorkForce ES-50 scanner with the difference an additional option of double side scanning.

Cons

The biggest drawback of this "portable" scanner is the portability. Its bulky, though it folds up, its still pretty weighty at 2.4 pounds and you need to have access to an outlet to power it on.

Final Verdict

The Epson WorkForce ES-200 is a hand tool however this is more for tableside / deskside use if you're traveling from office to office. I wouldn't recommend this as a travel scanner due to the need for a power source. This version of the scanner does not have an option to add a battery to work independently if you do not have access to a power outlet.

I would rate this device at a 3.5 out of 5 stars for usefulness this can be especially if you're scanning large documents at a time. You'd have to break down documents that are larger than twenty pages and do it in batches though. As mentioned above, weight and bulkiness are its major detractors.
