Recently, Microsoft Teams users have encountered a peculiar issue. When a presenter shares their screen during a meeting, some participants experience a display of pink and green hues, accompanied by subpar video quality. Interestingly, this problem seems to be exclusive to computer screens, as the video quality remains unaffected on mobile devices. Here are some simple steps to help resolve the issue and restore the picture quality back to normal.

Disable GPU Hardware Acceleration

Having GPU hardware acceleration turned on causes teams to do a few things on your pc. Turning off GPU hardware acceleration within teams is preferred because it causes your CPU to run higher than normal and decreases battery life on top of incoming video issues such as the pink and green presenters shared screen.

To disable this feature, do the following:

1. With teams open, click on your profile picture or your initials

2. Select Settings then go into the General tab

3. Scroll down to the Applications section and put a check mark in the box labeled

Disable GPU Hardware Acceleration (requires teams to restart)

4. In the Systems tray icon (you may need to select the ^ to show hidden icons) right click and select quit.

5. reopen teams

Clear out the AppData Folder

Clearing the cache folder for Microsoft Teams can help resolve issues with the application. The cache folder contains temporary files that Teams uses to speed up the app’s performance. Clearing the cache folder can help resolve issues such as slow performance, app crashes, or issues with signing in. It can also help resolve issues with incoming video calls.

To clear the cache folder, you can follow these steps:

  1. If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar, and then select Quit.

  2. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key + R.

  3. In the Run dialog box, enter %appdata%\\Microsoft\\Teams, and then select OK.

  4. Delete all files and folders in the: %appdata%\\Microsoft\\Teams directory.

Reinstall Microsoft Teams

There are two types of Teams currently out. One that says classic (you won't see it in the task bar icon) and the other that says new (this you will see under the Teams icon in the task bar).

If you're having incoming issues with Pink and Green, uninstall the Microsoft Teams application from the control panel and go to the Teams website and download the newest version of Teams. Teams is a standalone application, and you will not have to remove Microsoft Office to remove Teams.

Once you sign back in, the green and pink issue should be resolved.
